Sunday Devotional: 'Because the days are evil'

Ephesians 5:15-20

Brothers and sisters:
Watch carefully how you live,
not as foolish persons but as wise,
making the most of the opportunity,
because the days are evil.
Therefore, do not continue in ignorance,
but try to understand what is the will of the Lord.
And do not get drunk on wine, in which lies debauchery,
but be filled with the Spirit,
addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and playing to the Lord in your hearts,
giving thanks always and for everything
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.

We are indeed living in evil days.

Ten years ago, if someone had said a statue to Satan would be unveiled before the state capitol building in Little Rock, Arkansas, none of us would believe it.

But that's what happened three days ago, August 16, 2018. (See "Satan comes to Arkansas: 8½-ft Baphomet statue unveiled in state capitol")

Our Lord certainly knows and has foreseen all this. He counseled His apostles in John 15:18-19:

"“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.
As it is, you do not belong to the world,
but I have chosen you out of the world.
That is why the world hates you."

And in Matthew 10:16:

"Behold, I am sending you out
as sheep in the midst of wolves,
so be wise as serpents
and innocent as doves."

In these evil times, let us do what our Lord Jesus Christ and St. Paul counsel us to do:
  • "Be wise as serpents" because our adversaries are cunning and ruthless.
  • "Watch carefully how you live, not as foolish persons but as wise".
  • Be informed: "do not continue in ignorance".
  • Listen to the Holy Spirit: "try to understand what is the will of the Lord".
  • Be aware, alert, and keep our minds clear: "do not get drunk on wine, in which lies debauchery".
  • Stay true and be pure of heart: "Be filled with the Spirit".
  • Be joyful and sing to God, heeding St. Augustine's words that to sing is to pray twice.
  • And thank God always and at all times, no matter the circumstances. Just count all the good things we have, despite the evil times and in spite of whatever evil that has befallen on us.

May the strength and peace and love of Jesus Christ our Lord be with you,

~Eowyn

  2. Very early on I got it about being 'innocent as doves, but I didn't grasp the 'be wise as serpents' part until I was 74. By then I'd been badly burned by all-too-many people who I thought needed help. Of course I've likely had more than my share of absolutely wonderful steadfast friends, but it seems we're programmed to recall the downside more than the upside.

I'm told that it's an evolutionary advantage to recall those bad events, so we act to prevent or avoid them in future, which may be the case, but it leaves me feeling that I just didn't 'get it' when I was young, for whatever reason. People tell me I'm too trusting and have too much feeling for the underdog, which I'm sure is also true: it made me unable to believe the worst in people, until it was too late.

  3. "Yes," Howard Beale said, "You don't have to tell me that things are bad. They're worse than bad---they're crazy!"

We ARE in the movie "Network!" Ned Beatty's character would have us believe that "the world is a necklace of corporations, Mr. Beale.... It always has been since man crawled out of the slime." So some would have us believe "It's nothing personal." This IS NOT "The Godfather" where Abe Vigoda says, "Tell Michael it was nothing personal, just business."

Well, it IS personal, and it is MOST PERSONAL to Jesus Christ, Who came down into this vale of tears and PAID THE PRICE of our Salvation. Master Strategist that Our Lord is, He tells us how to conduct ourselves: "If the world hates you, it is because it has hated Me first." "Be as cunning as serpents, but as gentle as doves."

We don't have to volunteer to look for trouble; Trouble WILL come looking for us. And these COWARDS OF EVIL have been seeking to silence us on the only platform we have left. Our Lord is aware of this, too: The Christians who were fed to the lions did not have electricity, let alone an internet; But God Saw to it that the Holy Ghost's voice and voice of direction got through!

So I take it as a matter of fact---because we have to think strategically here, that we live in the Age of Satanism Rising, and that the Anti-Christ of Revelation may very well be alive on this Earth now, and that all Hell is going to break loose, and break loose it will within the next 20 years or so. So let's not focus on the "fireworks of sensationalism" because every coward of evil's rants are but pyrotechnics; Let us focus on the Anti-Christ's GOALS---namely, a one-world government, a social credit score, NSA wiretapping, the Mark of the Beast and the elimination of cash. This, together with the chemtrails, the poisoned vaccines, the GMO foods and all the other planks of EXTINCTION PROTOCOLS in their evil agenda. After all, the Devil is a deceiver, and in order to deceive, he has to practice MAGIC. So when he suggests we "look over here," WE DON'T look in the direction he says; We look in the OPPOSITE direction! Because the internet WILL be silenced. The Power Grid WILL go down! People WILL die by the BILLIONS. But the Voice of the Spirit WILL come forth and get around without a power grid! The Voice of the Spirit WILL get around without an internet! Without cash! The Voice of the Spirit WILL circulate, like air around the World! That means our very next step, whatever happens, is our choice. Our Choices shall, in those very moments, determine our futures and our destiny!

  4. Thank you Dr. Eowyn for this most beautiful post. Indeed, our choices will make all the difference, to wage war against evil, always, always, choosing Our Lord, Our Faith, as our first priority.
